Basketball with Dad, Shopping with Mom, and Alaska

Last week was such a good week! Let's start with Alaska. It was announced that my dad, stepmom, grandparents, sister and husband, aunt, and I are all going on an Alaskan cruise! I am so excited I want to start packing now! Actually I have been online shopping for clothes for the trip but obviously I'm not buying anything yet. It didn't really hit me till the other day and since then I have had Alaska on my mind.

Tuesday night my Dad was given two tickets to the Philadelphia Sixers game from a work friend. I just wanted to go but it turns out they weren't just tickets they were VIP tickets. We picked them up then went to the Lexus Club where we had dinner at this restaurant/bar. It led out to the court which was pretty cool. Our seats were 3 rows from center court! AMAZING! I was just enjoying everything when I realized the team the Sixers were playing was the Atlanta Hawks. My favorite player is Kyle Korver and he plays for Atlanta. I couldn't believe that I actually got to see him play and that we were sitting so close. I first saw Kyle Korver play when I was young and he was a Sixers and I have been following him since. Best night ever!!

AHHH!!!

The fun did not stop there... My mom and I went shopping basically all weekend. It was a lot of fun for both of us. I got some really good stuff and so did my mom. I'm going to share the stuff that I bought another day but it wasn't all about the stuff I got. It was just really fun to spend some time with my mom, mother-daughter time.

Let Week Two Begin!

I officially finished week one of T25 as well as my healthy cooking and I would 100% say success. I do have to admit that I feel better and feel more toned but who knows if that's actually true! It took a ton of will power today to not go and get fries and a burger from... well, anywhere! I really need to stop thinking about that before I mow down the next person I see with a burger.

It's rainy and cold here today so for dinner I made broccoli and spinach soup with avocado toast from the Clean Slate Cookbook from the editors of Martha Stewart Living. It was really good but obviously didn't satisfy my craving. Cleaner eating is one of my resolutions for the New Year so I have to keep going. Get shit done.

Last night my friend and I went out for drinks and finally gave each their Christmas presents. We both had the same concept it was funny. I bought her a calendar of hot guys holding baby animals, a wine glass with a chalkboard label, a flask, a candle, and of course a bottle of wine. She bought me Magic Mike on DVD, a wine glass, a candle, and an automated wine cork opener. Funny how similar our items were huh? The calendar and flask were my favorite gifts for her. Check out the flask...

Random Funny Story:

A friend on Facebook who works in retail said a customer went to return a pan that the finish started coming off while they were cooking the night before. My friend opened the bag to look at the pan. The pan still had food in it from the night before. Really?? People can be so dumb.

Shaun T is Trying to Kill Me

It is day 6 of the New Year and day 2 of my T25 challenge and I have come to the conclusion that Shaun T is trying to kill me. The good news being that I am doing a good job at trying hard with my New Year resolutions. My poor little (ha!) legs are super sore and I have only done 2 of the T25 workouts so far. I'm aiming to stick with the five week Alpha schedule and if I feel the way I do now I'm sure there will be great rewards at the end of the five weeks... if I can stop eating all the Reese's. Reese's are my guilty pleasure and since there are a bunch in the house I tend to eat, well, quite a bunch. I need to fix that asap!

To help make better health choices when it comes to food I bought two new cookbooks. So far I have made three recipes out of one and they turned out amazing! So yummy! I did not take any pictures so unfortunately I have nothing to prove my work but trust me it was amazing! I want to share the recipes with you however I am waiting for the one cookbook to come in the mail. You see I went to Barnes and Noble in search of these cookbooks I found online. They were in stock but I noticed they were much cheaper on their website so I took some pictures with my phone of some recipes, went shopping, and made the dinners. The pictures of the recipes I took are a bit hard to see so I will wait till I have the cookbooks to share all the delicious details.

I also bought The Body Book by Cameron Diaz, also waiting for that to come. I have heard some really good things about the book and hope that it will be helpful in keeping my body well and at peace. My top priority this year is a healthier body. Not so much focusing on a huge weight loss but just healthy. More active life and healthier food options are my plan for reaching this goal. Of course at the end of the goal you want a reward, right? Besides feeling great and perhaps looking better my reward to myself IF I stick to the five week plan for T25 is a new pair of shoes. I am not going to buy any shoes unless absolutely necessary till the five weeks. If I feel I did really well then perhaps I'll splurge on the shoes. A reward for eating healthier has not been determined nor has a timeline.

Hope you are sticking to your resolutions as well! Don't be that person who gives up first! I'm usually that one but not this year. Time for a change! Time to get shit done.

Don't You Hate Bad Days At Work?

Today was a bad day for me at work. There were people saying really positive things about me then another manager who just like crapped all over everything I do. Work is so emotional and frustrating. Am I doing good or not? One manager kind of treats me like a child yet they are telling me they want me to get this promotion. They say nice things about me then tell me I'm doing everything wrong. I just couldn't handle it today I was tempted to give my two weeks.

I don't hate my job but I really don't like being treated like a child or like I'm stupid. I know how to do my job and I do it pretty well. Out of most of the people working there I got my stuff together and know how to get things done and on top of that I actually DO get them done. I was told today that there are two positions and two of us up for these promotions. Why exactly are the two of us in competition if there are two open spots and two of us? Does that mean there are actually more than two people in the running? See what I mean! Totally confusing. At least I have tomorrow off so I can relax and not worry about work. Hope your Friday night is going well :)

One more thing... I was helping a customer and I said "hi how are you doing today?" The customer/old man responded "none of your damn business." He was not kidding either. I just kind of stared at him. Cool your jets people I was just being nice!

January 1, 2015

It's officially 2015! Crazy how fast this year blew through! People say it every year so I know it gets annoying to hear but wow! To make sure I started this year off on the right foot I pampered myself today by taking a long shower, doing my nails, doing my make up differently than usual, etc. It was a great way to start the new year feeling refreshed and clean. I then had to go to work but that's besides the point.

The things I plan on working on this year or my New Year's resolutions is taking better care of myself. Working out more, eating cleaner, drinking more water, and not stressing out over small thing (I don't tend to do that much but it's best to never do it). I'm going to do more of what I love such as more writing, reading, traveling, or anything else I want to do. I'm going to go for my dreams whatever that may be.

Last year my sister lost over 40lbs, got a promotion at work, got married, and moved into a new/bigger apt in Seattle. She totally owned last year! She is my inspiration for this year. It's my year to do what I want. I am going to make this year my bitch. I am going to get shit done. Actually I'm going to make that my motto for the year- Getting Shit Done.

Good luck with all your New Year's resolutions I hope you stick with them as well! We can be accountable for each other because I know I need some accountability, thank you blog. Let's motivate each other to get what we want accomplished this year. If ____ can do it why can't you!

*Edited on 1/3/15- The title had the date 2012 instead of 2015. I was off by a couple of years apparently. Fixed!
